Young Roderick was killed in action in the 2nd Battle of Bullecourt, he was only aged 17 years 1 month old. His family epitaph reads- TOO DEARLY LOVED TO BE FORGOTTEN. His cousin Cpl Bryan Humphris. 531. 32nd Battalion, was killed in action on the 20th of July 1916.
