Ernest Henry THOMPSON was born in Sunbury during 1892 and was working as a Labourer/Carpenter when he enlisted on 6/10/1914.

He left Melbourne on 22/12/1914 aboard the HMAT Ulysses as part of the 14th Battalion.

He served on Gallipoli and was wounded on 8/8/1915.

He was sent to the UK for recovery but went AWL on 22/2/1916 and did not return till 14/6/1916. During this time he married Cecilia Clancy in Edinburgh on 18/3/1916.

He went AWL again on 20/11/1916 and returned on 28/12/1916. He was Court Martialed for these AWL offences.

He was returned to Australia on 30/1/1918 and discharged on 14/5/1918.

Ernest died at Glen Davis, NSW on 19/10/1951.
