Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
James Parker was the son of Jack and Margaret Parker of Fremantle, Western Australia. His younger brother, 8014 Pte. John Parker 16th Battalion AIF, was later killed in France during August 1918, aged 18 years.
James died during the heavy fighting at Mouquet Farm when the 51st battalion attacked the formidable position and because of the failure of flanking units, many men of the unit were eventually surrounded by the Germans or killed by heavy shell fire.
James was born in Newcastle, NSW, and his parents had moved back there by 1921 when they received his medals, plaque, and scrolls.
Another brother, 7525 Pte. Charles Arthur Parker 44th Battalion AIF also served overseas and returned to Australia during 1919.
