Military Medal
'His work throughout the recent operations at ZONNEBEKE on 27th September, 1917, was invaluable as a runner and as a guide. He guided carrying parties successfully to the front line whilst the enemy was shelling the tracks, and on the 26th September he delivered despatches under heavy enemy shell and machine gun fire. His work was carried out fearlessly and cheerfully.'
