GEORGE ROSS MacDOUGAL was born on 20th March, 1889, at Bathurst, New South Wales, the son of the late Mr. George Halkerston MacDougal and Mrs. Sarah MacDougal deceased. He was educated at the Public School, Bathurst, and Fort Street High School, Sydney. He entered the service of the Bank at Head Office on 29th January, 1907; was transferred to Grenfell in February, 1909; to Goulburn in February, 1910, where in the following January he was appointed ledger-keeper; in November, 1911, he was transferred to Taralga as assistant; in April, 1912, to Junee, as teller; and in the same capacity he went to Canowindra in May, 1912; to Moree in January, 1914; to Collarenebri in September, 1914; and to Narrabri in May, 1915.
George Ross MacDougal enlisted in the A.I.F. about the 8th August, 1915. He left Australia in October, 1915, and served in Egypt and in France with the 3rd Battalion. He won promotions from private to lance-corporal, and then on to corporal and lieutenant. Lieutenant MacDougal returned to Australia in June, 1919.

Mr. George Ross MacDougal youngest son of the late Mr. G. H. MacDougal, of Bathurst, has died suddenly in Sydney. He was 40 years of age, and occupied a position on the headquarters staff of the Bank of New South Wales of which he recently acted as manager of the Walba (Victoria) branch. He was on active service in the Great War, leaving Australia with the 3rd Battalion as a private, and being promoted to lieutenant in the field in France. He was wounded on three occasions. The late Mr MacDougal, who was unmarried, achieved considerable fame as an athlete. He is survived by a brother, Mr H. H. MacDougal, S.M., and four sisters, Mrs. Wikner, Mrs G. W. Connah, and the Misses Hilda and Flora MacDougal.
He was a nephew of the Misses Sarah and Margaret Jeffries, of George St., Bathurst. The interment took place at Rookwood.
