Edward Pearce

Edward (Ted) Pearce was born in Newcastle (Registered in Smedmore) to Ann Pearce nee Chapman and George Mutton Pearce on 04 Oct 1892. He was the 6th living child as 3 Children had died as babies.

Edward was a Miner and was living with his Mother Annie (who was a midwife) in Second St, Weston ( his Father had died the year before), when the Wallabies recruiting March came through Weston. It was this which must have enticed Edward to sign up when he did in Maitland on the 30th August 1915.

Edward married in 1920 to Leah (Lily) Watkins. Unfortunately they had no children, but were extremely fond of all the nieces and nephews. They lived in Weston the rest of their lives and were loved by all the families. Edward passed away in the Kurri Kurri hospital on 26 May 1943.

They were saddened when Lily's brother John Watkins was KIA in Fromelles, France
