"THE LATE PRIVATE A. R. WEEN.
Much sympathy was felt at Prospect when the news was conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Ween that their eldest son, Private Albert R. Ween, had been killed in action in France on August 23. He was 19 years of age on July 10, and he spent his last two birthdays on the battlefield. He served through the Gallipoli campaign till the evacuation, and was transferred to the Suez Canal, and from there to France. He served in Europe without a day's illness till he met his death. He was born at Nailsworth, and educated at the Nailsworth school, and was much liked by a wide circle of friends." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 14 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
