Edward Robson enlisted and served under the alias David Hardie stating that he had served 4 years with the 3rd Durham Artillery before leaving the country. At that time, he stated he was a Ship’s Fireman.
Edward was born in Westoe, South Shields, then in County Durham, in the year of 1884 , the son of John Paul Robson-a shipwright, deceased by 1901
He was a plumber, aged 25 at the time of his marriage on 16th February 1901 to Margaret Mingay, aged 22,the daughter of Master Mariner William Mingay, deceased. The marriage was solemnized at St Mark’s, South Shields. The couple were living together at 15 Boroman Street. In 1921, Margaret was living in 10 Erskine Street, South Shields
He deserted his wife which is presumably why he chose to serve under an alias, viz. David Hardie.
He was probably Edward Walter Robson
