The Late Pte. John Gould.

Word was received in Narracoorte on
Friday by his relatives that Pte. John
Gould, of Western Australia, had been
killed in action in France on August 18.
Pte. Gould was a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. C. Gould, of Kaniva, Victoria, and
spent most of the earlier part of his life
with his uncle, the late Mr. E. Gould, of
Conmurra, Lucindale. He went to Western
Australia about 15 years ago, and left there
with the 6th reinforcements to the 16th
Battalion 15 months ago. Pte. Gould was
for some time on Gallipoli, and was then
invalided to London, where he spent some
months in hospital. On his return to
Egypt he was again in hospital for a
while, and on his recovery he was transferred
to the 48th Battalion, one of the last
to leave Egypt for France. Pte. Gould was
34 years of age and unmarried. His twin
brother, George, resides at Mount Benson,
and his other brothers are Ptes. C. H. (in
camp W.A.), W. J. (in France), and J. G.
(returned). Messrs. William and Nat
Gould, of Narracoorte, are uncles, and
Mrs. W. J. Gould (nee Winnie Turnbull)
