Charlie Loftus, who had been wounded at Bullecourt, was reported to have been killed by a piece of shell on the 8 October 1917. His mates remembered him as quiet country boy, from a little town in sourthern New South Wales. He has no known grave.
His brother 1952 Private Rockley Loftus 45th Battalion AIF also served.
