Citation for Bar to Military Medal

At ZONHEBEKE on 26th September 1917, he did valuable work in the vicinity of Battalion Headquarters, attending to a large number of wounded men of all units who were knocked out shortly after the attack commenced. The locality, on the 'Jumping Off' line - was heavily shelled all day. Pte. AUGUST showed utter disregard of fire and was the means of saving many lives by his prompt dressing of wounds.
