Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

William was the third of six children of Stephen Sealy Gibbs (born 1847 at Wanneroo in WA) and Eliza White (born 1851 at Kelmscott in WA). Stephen, a Farmer, and Eliza married in Perth in 1879 and settled at Canning where they raised their family before moving to East Perth in 1910.

William was a Contractor in East Perth in 1916 when he enlisted in the AIF. He served with 16th Infantry Battalion as a Private (Service No:5718) and was WIA in France on two occasions. He was Discharged in 1919. Nephews Robert (Service No:W34214), Senly (RAAF, Service No:16714), and Norman (Service No:Wx35321) served in WWII.

Returning to WA, William was a Farmer in Maddington WA when he married Hilda Lucy Dellar (born 1900 in Canning, WA) in 1929. William and Hilda settled at Maddington, where William was a Farmer, and then a Contractor. He died in 1967 and Hilda in 1985.
