Remembering Lem..

Private Lemuel Mervyn Stevenson (S/N 3126) was born in Mersey Tasmania is 1894 the son of John Mawer Stevenson and Eliza Stevenson nee McGinty. He embarked in Adelaide 10th February 1917 on board " HMAT Seang Bee" with the 40th Battallion 7th Reinforcement.

He was serving with the 11th Australian Machine Gun Corps when he was killed in action on January 28th 1917 in Belgium and is commemorated in the London Rifle Brigade Cemetery Comines- Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium. He was just 23 years old.

His brother Lloyd Douglas Stevenson (No7800) was killed in action 23rd April 1918 and is commemorated in the Metern Military Cememtery, Meteren, Nord, France.

Lemuel had died prior to Lloyd's Embarkment to France.

Lemuel is also on the cenotaph WW1 memorial in Devonport, Tasmania. Lloyd is not?
