W. L. ALLAN enlisted on 27th October 1914 and embarked as Trooper in 8th Light Horse on 26th February 1915. He arrived at Anzac on
16th May 1915 and took part in operations there till Evacuation . Subsequently he was on service in Egypt, Sinai and Palestine , and having been transferred to 3rd M.G. Squadron and promoted
to Armourer Corporal , took part in all operations of his unit except the final advance to Damascus .
He returned to Australia on 12th August and was discharged on 12th October 1919.
