The death occurred at the Devon Hospital, Latrobe, yesterday, of Mr. Jack Williams Gardiner, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gardiner, of Ulverstone, at the age of 34 years. The  late Mr. Gardiner was a brother of Messrs. Bob, Lou and Wally Gardiner, who aro well-known in Tasmanian athletic circles. He was born at Forth, where he spent his boyhood days. At an early age he entered the Tasmanian Railway Department, and for some years had been a railway engine driver in various parts of the State. During the Great War he served with the A.I.F. in France, where he won a decoration -  the Military Medal for distinguished service.

The funeral will leave the Presbyterian Church, Ulverstone, at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon for tho Ulverstone general cemetery. The Ulverstone branch of tho R.S.L. is making a  request to returned soldiers to attend.
