19 December 1916 - Wounded in action, by grenade. Walter was in the trench when a grenade thrown by his mate fell back into the trench and exploded. Severe wounds to the chest, wrist and knee
19 January 1917 - Transport to England. Wounds to chest, wrist and knee
22 July 1917 - Returned to Australia on board Euripedis
