Trooper William N Wallace of the 30th Reinforcements, 9th Light Horse Regiment, died in the 21st General Hospital. Alexandria on October 26 1918. Trooper Wallace enlisted with his brother, the late GB Wallace (who died in Egypt in January 1918) in September 1916, and sailed for active service on November 2. In a letter dated October 4, 1918 from the deceased soldier, who was in great glee at the time of writing over the captures they had made from the Turks,he said up to that date he was the only one of 30/9 who had gone right through without hospital treatment. These two brave lads were the sons of mrs and Mr Wallace of the Post Office Walkerville.
