Add my storyBiography contributed by John Oakes
Charles Archibald Harris was born on 18th September 1892 in the Darling River district. He worked as a labourer for the NSW Government Railways and tramways.
He enlisted in Armidale, NSW. He gave his calling as ‘laborer’.
He was killed in action in Belgium on 7th June 1917. Although he was unmarried, and his father was his next of kin, he did leave behind a daughter, Maud, in Australia and the military went to some length to ensure that she not only received a pension, but some of the medals to which her father was entitled.
