Biography contributed by Zidane McNamara

I saw old Tom Wilson, standing further away and he had a whole group of Arabs round him. Most amazing. Tom Wilson had been in the first war and I thought, “Fancy coming back to have another go, he must like it.” But we found out in a second he was talking perfect Arabic, and they were taking it all in and it was good to see, because Tom with all these Arabs and they were hanging on his every word. He hadn’t forgot his Arabic, after 20 years, and he had them all. But poor old Tom was killed one day, as he was walking from one trench to another. Quiet Sunday afternoon, poor old Tom.
