Sam was the son of Andrew (Drewy) Dyson (b1858 in Perth, WA) and Charlotte Ashworth (b1862 in York, WA). Drewy (a Dealer) and Charlotte married in 1881 in York, WA and settled in Perth where Drewy worked as a Dealer. He and Charlotte adopted William Victor Dyson (the son of Drewy's sister Mabel).
Sam worked as a Packer/Warehouseman in Perth, WA and in August 1914 enlisted in the AIF. He served as a Private (Service No:26) in Gallipoli and France with the Australian Postal Corps and 11th Infantry Battalion.
He was stationed in London in 1916 when he married Mabel (Mary) Ursula Gould (b1896 in Winkfield, Berkshire). Mary was working as a Lady's Maid in Pimlico, London when they married, and their first child was born in Surrey. Sam was Discharged in December 1918.
Sam and Mary settled in Perth, WA where they raised their family and Sam worked as a Salesman. He served in the ACMF (Warrant Officer II; Service No:W237592) in WWII and died in 1944. Mary died in 1974.
