Son of Albert and Rose REIMAN, the Range, Cordalba, Queensland

When, after the war, graves from the Albert Road Cemetery were concentrated in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, no remains were found in the grave of either [182 Captain] R.V. Atkinson or 2645 Pte E. REIMAN, 49th Bn. The two memorial crosses originally installed were removed and replaced by a large memorial cross in the Dernancourt Cemetery, with the inscription: 'To the memory of this Dominion Officer [and man killed in action April 1918 and buried at the time in Albert Road Cemetery, which was partically destroyed by the enemy, August, 1918. Their glory shall not be blotted out.'
