George Marshall PESCOD was born in 1871 in Gateshead on Tyne, Durham, England - he was listed as a native of Low Fell, Gateshead

His parents were John James PESCOD and Alice Jane STEPHENSON who married in 1864 in Alnwick, Northumberland

George married Rebecca Burn PLATTON in 1898 in Chester le Street, Durham, England and had two children, Alice Jane Stephenson PESCOD and Perimus Platton PESCOD - wife Rebecca died in 1954 in Gateshead, UK

George arrived in Fremantle Western Australia on his own in 1902 He enlisted in Blackboy Hill, Western Australia on 28th August, 1915 with the 11th Battalion - he was with the 12th reinforcements who embarked from Fremantle on the RMS MONGOLIA on 22nd November, 1915

George was Wounded in Action on 20th August, 1916 and died of gunshot wounds received in action on 23rd August, 1916  at No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station, France - he is buried in Puchevillers British Cemetery and also memorialised on the Australian War Memorial

He received the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & the Victory Medal
