Obituary
After an illness extending over several years and almost a year in hospital in Perth, the death occurred at Subiaco last Saturday, November 15, of Dr. Cyril Brooke Carlin, medical practitioner in Goomalling since about 1934. To Mrs. Carlin and the bereaved
children (Judith, John and Peter) is extended sympathy in their loss. The late Dr. Carlin was a POW in World War 1 and its privations robbed him of normal health for the rest of his life. He became known in these parts first when in the early 30's he was resident medico at Toodyay. Following a period then at Swanbourne he took over the Goomalling practice from Dr. Pannell. Both at Toodyay and at Goomalling he carried out several outstanding feats of surgery. Friends he made were few, and his impaired health and his work allowed little activity in public life. In latter years he was a sick man and in the war years scarcity of doctors, he carried on in Goomalling as well as able, often no doubt curing others and by working doing injury to himself.

Vale, Dr. Cyril Carlin.
