Malcolm Henry Appelbee was born on the 2nd of March 1898. He grew up in  Kensington Gardens South Australia. Before Appelbee joined/enlisted he was a civil servant, he was not married and his religion was Methodist. Malcolm was enlisted on his 16th birthday the 2nd of June 1915 but lied about his age, stating he was 18 years and 3 months. He embarked on the HMAT Benalla A24 which left port Melbourne on the 19th of October 1914.

After the war Beatrice Applebee on the 10th of December of 1942. He re-enlisted into the army to serve in WW2 at the age 42 years old. He died in May 1981 at the age of 83.
