Harry William was born on 15 May 1879 in Wanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui, New Zealand.To Daniel and Martha Hipe. He married Minnie Knight on 18 February 1904 in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. They had five children during their marriage. Harry enlisted in the AIF an was placed into 28th Infantry Battalion, an obtained the rank of Driver, his war service was in Egypt, Gallipoli & on the Western Front, Harry Returned to Australia on 5 April 1919 & was discharged from the Army.
He was reunited with his wife and children.
Harry died on 10 April 1974 at the age of 94, and was buried in Southport, Queensland, Australia
