Military Medal

'During the operations at VAUVILLERS on 9th August 1918 this N.C.O. was in charge of a Lewis Gun Section. During the advance his Company came under extremely heavy Machine Gun fire at close range in the open, and was held up. Corporal PRIMMER displayed great initiative and judgment in leading his Section forward into a position on the flank which commanded the enemy Machine Guns. He worked his way forward to within 100 yards of the enemy position. There he engaged the Machine Gun Post, put the 2 guns out of action and captured both teams, taking in all 8 prisoners. The Company was then enabled to resume its advance on the village with little opposition, and finally reached its objective with very few further losses. The skill and daring displayed by this N.C.O. in a very difficult situation very materially assisted the attack, and doubtless saved the lifes of many of his Company.'
