He was 25 and the eldest son of Mr. J. N. and Mrs. E. A. Laurie, of “Stobo” , Rawdon Vale, New South Wales. Great grandson of Joseph Laurie of Stobo, Peebleshire, Scottish Borders. Joseph has been described as a patriarch-many of his descendants emigrated to Australia and many of them fell in the Great War.
