2nd pioneer battalion
ARTHUR JOHNSON private regimental number 2184 6th infantry brigade 24 infantry battalion 1st to 8th reinforcements 2nd pioneer battalion This is my grandfather who sadly died when i was very young so i did not know him or anything of what he did in the first world war or what he was doing in australia in the first place, i only found out by looking at his medals what i do know is he lived at 100 NELSON ROAD ,SOUTH MELBOURNE, VICTORIA. He was a bricklayer by trade single age 30 BROTHER, CHARLES JOHNSON, 7 MYRTLE VILLERS, ST MARK HULL, ENGLAND. He enlisted on the 14 JULY 1915 AWM EMBARKATION ROLL NUMBER 23414 unit embarked from melbourne, victoria, on board HMAT A20 HORORATA on the 27 SEPTEMBER 1914 I no this is a long shot but i am trying to find out any thing about him , why he was living in australia and the war, all i have of him are 2 photos and his medals, why i don't no,it was never mentioned to me .so if anyone can help me with anything THANKS A LOT MERRY CHRISTMAS AND THANKS AGAIN BRIAN JOHNSON [email protected]
