Let us remember a Fallen Soldier of The Great War whose name has been inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour.
On the 17th October 1918, Private Frederick Rees, 18th Battalion (Reg No-7120), miner from Minmi, New South Wales, Died of Wounds at the 6th General Hospital, Rouen, France, age about 36.
No Roll of Honour circular summited.
No Australian Red Cross Wounded and Missing File.
Born at Penygraig, Wales, England possibly February 1882 to Richard and ? Rees from 9 Hoskins Street, Penygraig, Wales, Fred enlisted on the 30th August 1917, stated age 35 years 6 months, at Newcastle, N.S.W.
Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A38 Ulysses on the 19th December 1917.
Disembarked Suez, Egypt 16.1.1918.
Embarked for England 12.2.1918.
Disembarked Southampton, England 13.2.1918.
Proceeded O/Seas to France from Folkestone, England 3.6.1918.
Admitted to hospital 20.6.1918 (Pyrexia of Unknown Origin).
Wounded in action - 4.10.1918 (GSW abdomen).
