Arrived in Australia aged 14 years
Son of C.E. and S.J. Simpson of 45 Templars Avenue, Golders Green, London, England formerly of Castle Brew Cottage, East Ayton, Yorkeshire, England. Brother of Albert E. Simpson who returned to Australia on 27 August 1917 having served with the 7th Battalion. Albert died on the 24 April 1959 and was buried in the Field of Mars Cemetery, NSW
