William Ivey Cleave, Son of John Simon Cleave and Martha Elizabeth Cleave nee Stephens of 61 Church Street, Geelong, Victoria.
Brother of Edith Maud Cleave, Ruby Adelaide Cleave, Isabella May Cleave, Amy Beatrice Cleave, Myrtle Martha Elizabeth Cleave, Elizabeth Jane Cleave and John Thomas Cleave
On 7 June 1919 William married Clara Olga Schulz in the Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide
Commenced return to Australia on 21 December 1918 on board Mamari (gunshot wound to the side) having served with the 43rd Battalion. Disembarked at Fremantle on 27 January 1919 after which he went AWOL. On 5 February 1919 he was transported back to South Australia on the Great Western Railway
