Son of William Sneddon Cochrane and Jessie Cochrane of Brighton Road, Dandenong, Victoria formerly of North Poowong, South Gippsland, Victoria; brother of William David Cochrane who return to Australia on 8 November 1918 having served wit the  14th Battalion and Alice J. Cox Crompton of Casula, NSW
