The details provided are taken from the book "Stealth Raiders - a few daring men in 1918" written by Lucas Jordan, published 2017, refer to pages 97 & 276. Prior to the war he was a brass-turner of Launceston Tas. He enlisted 15th July 1915, aged 23 years. He served with the 12 Infantry Battalion rising to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. During the war he was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal and a Military Medal for his activities. He survived the war, departing the UK for home 18th July 1919.
