"GUNNER M. L. MALONE
Official news has been received that Gunner M. L. Malone, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. M. K. Malone, of Walkerville, has been awarded the Military Medal. His father is an old soldier, and his two brothers served in the Boer war and are at present in France. Gunner Malone was a member of the swimming club at Walkerville and the Foresters' Lodge. He was educated by the Sisters of St. Joseph, North Adelaide, and later at the Christian Brothers' College. He spent his nineteenth birthday in France." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 10 Feb 1917 (nla.gov.au)
