Archie

Archibald was born in East Brisbane to Evans Burns & Elizabeth (Simpson). His occupation was a butcher's labourer. He enlisted in Brisbane on 3.9.1914 & 21 days later he was aboard the "Omrah A5" bound for Alexandria, Egypt.
He landed on Gallipoli on 25.4.1915 with the 9th Battalion. On 20.8.1915, he was evacuated to Malta with dysentery, and then to England on 2.9.1915.
On 3.9.1916, he married Edith Emma Siggers at St. John's Church, Paddington, England.
In May 1917, he was wounded by burns during an attack on the Hindenburg Line, France. He was medically discharged on 18.7.1918.
Archibald divorced Edith in 1945 & on 2.2.1948, he married Annie Alberta Elizabeth Shaw in Bowen. He passed away in Kelsey Creek on 30.7.1969 age of 77 years.
