Chronicle (Adelaide, SA: 1895 - 1954) Saturday 30 September 1916

THE LATE PRIVATE G. THOMAS

Mrs. M. E. Thomas, of Rankine-road, Torrensville, has been notified by the military authorities that her husband, Private George Thomas, died of wounds in France on August 7. Private Thomas, who, before he enlisted, was employed by Messrs. Metters & Co., Mile-End, was widely known and greatly liked by all who knew him. He was an ex-naval man, having joined that branch of the service when he was 16 years of age, and he served in the Boer war for three and a half years. He took part in the famous fight at Lone Pine, and was on Gallipoli until the evacuation. He went into action in France on July 30.
