Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Military Medal

'For gallant and conspicuous devotion to duty during the attack on LIHONS on 11th August 1918. During a counter-attack this soldier showed great resource and devotion to duty. He collected enemy bombs and S.A.A. under heavy fire, acted as sole sentry on a communication trench at a very critical period and later carried messages under heavy fire. He set a good example of personal courage and resourcefulness to his comrades under very arduous conditions materially assisting in the defeat of the very superior enemy force.'
