Walter raised his age slightly so he could enlist for service in WW1 and then many years later, in wishing to serve again, he dropped his age by a few years so he could enlist for service in WW2. NSW Births Deaths and Marriages records his actual date of birth as 15 August 1897 (Son of William Joseph Mulvena and Mary Ann Mulvena (nee McKay)

Biography
Walter raised his age slightly so he could enlist for service in WW1 and then many years later, in wishing to serve again, he dropped his age by a few years so he could enlist for service in WW2. Walter died as a Japanese prisoner of war in South East Asia on 28 May 1943.
