William John Francis Collins was the elder brother of Albert Ernest Collins Regimental Number 3130. The family initially lived in the Ballarat district before moving to the Horsham district where Albert was born. Both Albert born 1882 in Allandale and William farmed in the Wimmera district prior to moving to Wooreen with Wimmera Rate Books showing both gentlemen leasing land in the district. In 1904 Albert was leasing 320 acres, Allotments 19-24 in the Parish of Vectis, an area 15 km west of Horsham.
In 1899 William married Ada Crick and relocated to Wooreen, farming initially at Lot 82b which ran off Forresters Road, down to the West Branch of the Tarwin just north of Boyles Creek and later 80b which was on the eastern side of Forresters Road, running up the hill and adjoining Lot 82b. In 1914 Albert Ernest Collins relocated to Wooreen, living with his brother and working as a Labourer (1914 Electoral Roll).
