Son of James Alexander Urquhart and Agned Urquhart nee Marquis of Dorcas Street, South Melbourne, Victoria
1 July 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria, with the 30th Battalion and with the rank of Private
2 May 1916 - promoted to Lance Corporal
20 July 1916 - wounded in action. Wound to the nose
11 November 1916 - taken on strength with the 8th Machine Gun Company
15 May 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Orontes disembarking on 28 June 1919
Medals: 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal
22 August 1919 - discharged at the 3rd Military District
During 1920c John married Elizabeth Wren in Victoria.
