Son of James William BARR and Maria nee BOWDEN, of Waite St., Glanville, Port Adelaide, South Australia.

Recommendation for Miliatry Medal states; Awarded 4 October 1916

On 25 July 1916 although wouldend he continued to carry bombs across open ground to the O.G.1 and refusing to go to the Aid Post until the trench had been taken.
