Son of Donald Urquhart and Annabelle Urquhart nee MacKenzie of Caberfeadth, Kylealochlash, Rose Shire, Scotland.
On the 18 Deptember 1918 Roderick married Edith Marion Fletcher in the Parish Church, Brighton, Sussex, England. Assistant Priest G.F. Bond officiated
Commenced return to Australia on 25 September 1919 aboard HT Mahana disembarking on 12 November 1919.
