Simon Flood SCHMEDJE was born at Kotupna, Victoria in 1889

His parents were Charles SCHMEDJE & Elizabeth Ann HARPER

He married Vera Ethel McLACHLAN in 1913 - one son Theodore James b. 1915

He had previously served for 3 years in the Victorian Rangers, E Company before he enlisted in Bendigo on 24th July, 1915 & embarked on 26th August 1915 with the 21st Infantry Battalion, 3rd reinforcements from Melbourne on the HMAT Anchises

Simon died from shell wounds to his chest at Gallipoli on 2nd November, 1915 - he is buried in Shrapnel Valley Cemetery at Gallipoli

His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Roll of Honour in Bendigo, Victoria
