Admitted to Tidworth Military Hospital, 8 May 1917 (nasal obstruction); discharged to No. 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 21 August 1917. Admitted to Brigade Hospital, Perham Downs, 24 August 1917 (influenza); date of discharge not recorded.
Proceeded overseas to France, 18 September 1917; taken on strength, 1st Divisional Ammunition Column, Belgium, 24 September 1917. Transferred to 1st Field Artillery Brigade, 17 October 1917.
Admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance, 2 February 1918 (pyrexia, unknown origin), and transferred to Divisional Rest Station, same day; discharged to duty, 13 February 1918; rejoined unit, same day. On leave to United Kingdom, 14 August 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 5 September 1918.
Wounded in action, 3 October 1918 (gassed), and admitted to 7th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 3rd Stationary Hospital, Rouen, 4 October 1918; to England, 6 October 1918, and admitted to 5th Southern General Hospital, Portsmouth, 7 October 1918; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 20 November 1918. Discharged, 4 December 1918, and granted furlough to report to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 18 December 1918.
Commenced return to Australia on board 'City of York', 14 January 1919.
