Biography contributed by Paul Trevor

While researching Thomas Augustine O'DONOGHUE (www.aif.adfa.edu.au) and utilising 'The AIF Project' site, there were indications given that the above name was an 'alias' and his correct name being Thomas Millett, the younger brother to William George Millett.

From serching the historical birth records of Queensland's Births, Deaths and Marriages, I discovered that there was a Thomas Millett (or Thomas Augustine O'Donoghue per. his service record) born during this period as stated by his Attestation Paper and Service Record, being a sibling to William George Millett.

On the other hand, when researching the same site for the birth of Thomas Augustine O'Donoghue there could be no records found, let alone the supposed father, Daniel O'Donoghue, ever having a son born of this name.

There are records (from Trove) indicating there was a Daniel (Dan) O'Donoghue living years prior to the commencement of The First World War at Stannary Hills, a mining settlement 30 km west of Atherton. Daniel O'Donoghue may have been a family friend of the Millett's or Thomas Millett may have actually worked, as he stated as a miner, and knew of Daniel O'Donoghue.

The two enlisted children of William Millett and Margaret (née Howard) Millett of Gordonvale, Queensland:-

5421 Pte. William George Millett (/explore/people/97503) - died of wounds,

7724 Pte. Thomas Millett [served as Thomas Augustine O'DONOGHUE] - returned to Australia.
