Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Albert died near Polygon Wood in Belgium, seen to be hit by shellfire. He was buried in the field but his grave was subsequently lost.

His younger brother, 2698 Pte. George Roy Reginald Yendle 59th Battalion had been killed in action at Fromelles on 19 July 1916, at the age of 16 years and 11 months.

By agreement with Major J.M. Lean of Base Records, the medals of Albert Yendle were sent to his father, Alfred Yendle, and those for George Yendle were sent to the mother, Matilda Eliza Yendle.
