Died on this date – 18th January…… Edmund Ryan Hannabry was born at Evansford, Victoria in 1891. He enlisted in Perth, Western Australia in the Australian Imperial Force on 20th March, 1916 as a 24 year old, single, Traveller from Fitzroy, Victoria.

Private Edmund Ryan Hannabry embarked from Fremantle, Western Australia on HMAT Seang Bee (A48) on 18th July, 1916 with the 4th Infantry Brigade, 16th Infantry Battalion, 18th Reinforcements & disembarked at Plymouth, England on 9th September, 1916.

He was marched in to 4th Training Battalion at Rollestone, Wiltshire, England on 10th September, 1916 from Overseas Reinforcements.

On 15th October, 1916 Private Hannabry was written up for an Offence while posted with 4th Training Battalion at Codford, Wiltshire – Overstaying leave from Reveille on 9th October, 1916 reporting at 21.00 hrs on 13th October, 1916. He was awarded 14 days Confined to Camp.

He was sent sick to Group Hospital at Codford on 31st December, 1916 from 4th Training Battalion - Cardiac.
Private Edmund Ryan Hannabry died at 11.45 pm on 18th January, 1917 at Isolation Hospital, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England from Cerebro Spinal Meningitis.

He was buried in St Lawrence’s Churchyard, Stratford-sub-Castle, Wiltshire, England where 25 other WW1 Australian War Graves are located.
