HORACE LIONEL WALKER was born at Paddington, Sydney, on 1st November, 1893. His parents are Mr. Paul Walker and Mrs. Eleanor Walker. He was educated at the Burwood Superior Public School and joined the Bank’s service on 25th April, 1910, at the Head Office.
Horace Lionel Walker enlisted in the A.I.F. on 12th April, 1917, and left Australia on 5th November of the same year. He served in France from 13th March, 1918, until 25th of the following October, in the 53rd Battery, 14th Brigade, of the Australian Field Artillery. He was promoted to bombardier on 20th October, 1918, and shortly afterwards was recommended for a commission. After service of over two years he was discharged on 12th June, 1919.
