LETTERS FROM THE FRONT.
Private William G. Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Cole, of Parkham, writing under dates ranging from March 9 to April 1, says :— "At last, I have received a parcel. It came through last Sunday. It was the one you sent on October 25. The contents were in splendid condition. The country we are in here is very hilly, but in the spring must be excep-tionally pretty. There are villages every two or three miles. The people here are a great deal different to what the are nearer the line, being very obliging, whilst, the principal object of those nearer the line seems to be to obtain one's money. I am in the best of health, and still having a good time. We are having some beautiful weather lately. I met C. Bryan, he has just returned after having a little over 12 months in England. We had sports yesterday, and a very good time was passed. It is a usual thing to have sports when we are having a spell from the front. There are several games of football during the week."
