Son of Annie and the late James DRUMMOND, Rubicon Street, Sebastopol, Ballarat, Victoria
Henry Drummond (SN 4174) was born in Ballarat and educated at the Redan and Sebastopol State Schools. He was 23-years-old, single, Carpenter when he enlisted on 12th July 1915 and was posted to the 14th Infantry Battalion. He embarked from Melbourne in late December, travelling via Egypt to France. In one of the AIF’s earliest actions in France he was killed in action at Bois Grenier on 3rd July 1916. He is buried in the Brewery Orchard Communal Cemetery, Bois Grenier, France.
Private Henry Drummond (killed in action on 3rd July) was the eldest son of Mrs. Drummond, of Rubicon Street, Sebastopol, and was 23 years and 10 months old at the time of his death. He was a native of Creswick, and afterwards removed to the Ballarat district. He was educated at the Redan and Sebastolpol State Schools, and was a prominent member of Redan and Sebastopol Football Clubs. He was also connected with the Rubicon street and Baptist Basketball Clubs, and attended the Rubicon street Methodist Sunday School and Baptist Church. He was a carpenter by trade and seved his apprenticeship with Mr. E. Blewett, of Sebastopol. He was a member of the Prince Alfred Lodge of oddfellows. A brother (Dave Drummond) is with the troops in France.
